1994-1996Everbright Minghui
- China Everbright Group invested in Hong Kong’s IHD Holdings Ltd. and changed its name to China Everbright-IHD Pacific Ltd.
1997-1999Built a financial holding platform
- 19 September 1997: China Everbright-IHD Pacific Ltd. changed its name to China Everbright Limited(CEL). Divesting the company from its original retail and restaurant ventures, it acquired the stakes of AXA Insurance (5%), International Bank of Asia (20%), China Everbright Bank (20%), Everbright Securities (49%), Standard Life Asia (20%), Everbright Financial Holdings Co., Ltd. (100%), to build itself into a financial holding company.
2000-2006Entered into direct- investment business
- While supporting the development of China Everbright Bank and Everbright Securities, it also put efforts into developing securities, futures, foreign exchange transactions and IPO sponsorships. In 2003, it sponsored the listing of the Fujian Zijin Mining Group on the Hong Kong stock exchange
- 2001: Established Everbright Venture Capital (Shenzhen) Limited, marking its entry into the field of direct investment
- 2004: Established its first private equity fund, “China Special Opportunities Fund I,” at a scale of US$50 million. The Fund’s investment projects - TechFaith Wireless, Goldwind, China High Speed Transmission, and China Sunshine Paper were all successfully listed
- Becames a constituent stock of MSCI China Free Market Index
2007-2010Took transformative steps to develop its fund management business
- Established “China Special Opportunities Fund II” and “China Special Opportunities Fund III”, successfully raising around US$600 million
- Established three venture capital funds dedicated to early-stage startup investments, successfully raising around RMB 1.2 billion
- Acquired the Lehman Brothers’Chinese real estate fund management platform “ALAM Investment”, renamed it as “EBA Investments” and transformed it into the top one real estate fund management company in mainland China
- 2008: Established “China Everbright Charitable Foundation” to devote long-term commitment in corporate social responsibility
- 2009: Established and raised around US$900 million for the “China Infrastructure Fund” with Macquarie
2011 to 2014Became China’s leading cross-border investment and asset management firm
- Securities brokerage and investment banking business was transferred to Everbright Securities so as to concentrate the resources on its core business
- Acquired China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited, and on July 2014 it was successfully listed on the main board of Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The company purchased approximately 300 Airbus and Boeing aircrafts, and it has built China’s largest aircraft dismantling base in Heilongjiang, which becomes China’s leading one-stop aircraft full life-cycle solutions provider
- Invested in “Everbright Prestige Capital Asset Management” to develop its mainland China asset management business
- Invested in Ying Li, a PRC property developer listed in Singapore and became its second largest shareholder
- Received QFII, RQFII, QDII investment advisor, China Inter-Bank Market Trade license and additional QFII quota
- Became a constituent stock of the Hang Seng China-Affiliated Corporations Index and Hang Seng Mainland 100 Index
2015 to present
Further consolidated with soaring size bolstered by huge growth
- Acquired “Huichen Senior Nursing Homes” in Beijing to develop high-end elderly care business in mainland China
- Established its first Fund of Funds
- Worked with IDG to jointly establish Everbright-IDG Industrial Fund
- Worked with Focus Media to jointly set up Everbright Zhongying Capital
