CEL volunteers visit cross-boundary students in Sam Shui Natives Association Huen King Wing School to promote arts education
China Everbright Limited ("CEL", stock code: 165.HK) volunteer team visited cross-boundary students in Sam Shui Natives Association Huen King Wing School and co-organised a “Mural Creation Workshop” with a local NGO, “HandsOn” on 25 May 2018. CEL volunteers shared a meaningful experience with the local students from an under-resourced school, utilizing environmental-friendly materials to create a mural painting, beautifying the wall of the school as well as bringing an interesting art experience to the students.
During the activity, CEL volunteer team had a joyful mural painting session with nearly 20 students at the age of 9 to 11. Under the guidance of a mural artist, both volunteers and students used around 2 hours to finish six murals with the theme of “Career”.
The workshop is designed to help students strengthening students’ teamwork and communication skills, enhancing students’ interest in visual arts, exploring their potential in creativity and experience the sense of satisfaction after completion. At the same time, volunteers can have more understanding of cross-boundary students. It was full of fun and laughter during the workshop, both the volunteers and students enjoyed themselves very much.。
After the event, the finished artwork was installed onto the wall linearly along its middle to collage into one whole mural. This is not just an enhancement of outlook of the school, it can also effectively brings art into campus, and further integrate the artwork into the learning atmosphere.
