China Everbright Limited Title Sponsors 1st Annual International Gala of Stars

An Unforgettable Evening with Celebrated Ballet Stars Including Tan Yuan Yuan, Sarah Lane and Herman Cornejo

Title sponsored by China Everbright Limited (“Everbright”, stock code: 165.HK) and performed by Hong Kong Ballet, the 1st Annual International Gala of Stars was staged successfully on 2 November at Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Well-known international ballet stars including Tan Yuan Yuan, Principal Dancer of San Francisco Ballet, Sarah Lane, Principal Dancer of American Ballet Theatre, Adiarys Almeida, International Ballet Star and Former Principal Dancer of Cincinnati Ballet & Corella Ballet and Herman Cornejo, Principal Dancer of American Ballet Theatre etc. partnered with Hong Kong Ballet artists featuring a series of popular classical and contemporary ballet works. It was attended by a full-house and brought the auidences an excited evening.

As a long-term partner of Hong Kong Ballet, for the fourth consecutive year, Everbright has been the title sponsor for various productions since 2015 including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Don Quixote and mixed bill programs. Everbright hopes to bring ballet performances with international standard to audiences in Hong Kong, and will continue to support arts development, as well as promoting widespread interest among the general public for the refinement and elegance of arts in Hong Kong.

Everbright also titled sponsored Giselle, another highlighted production of Hong Kong Ballet, which is renowned as one of the most romantic ballet productions in history. Giselle has survived virtually unchanged for 177 years and remains one of ballet’s most enduring and celebrated works, showcasing the dancers’ impeccable technical skills. It was a rare opportunity to enjoy this dance canon restaged by Septime Webre and Charla Genn, with stunning, ethereal sets by renowned British designer Peter Farmer and live accompaniment by Hong Kong Sinfonietta performing the sweeping, enchanting score, bringing the audiences an unforgettable ballet experience.

As a China-background financial institution based in Hong Kong, Everbright has always strived for serving the community through corporate social responsibility events. For the third time, Everbright donated to Hong Kong Ballet’s Accessibility Fund that provided a chance for the families living in North West New Territories to experience ballet performance. This year, two beneficiary organisations including “We R Family Foundation” and “Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Tuen Mun Integrated Services Centre” received complimentary tickets for 45 people to attend the 28 October matinee performance of Giselle to experience one of the most classical ballets at all time.
