Co-hosted by China Everbright Limited the Israel Innovation Forum was Successfully Held in Hong Kong
30 May, 2018 – Co-hosted by China Everbright Limited (“CEL”, HK:165), CEL-Catalyst China Israel Fund (“CCF” or “the Fund”) and Cyberport, the Israel Innovation Forum, an investment and innovation forum has successfully closed in Hong Kong. The forum drew over 200 guests from Hong Kong and mainland Chinese investment communities, government agencies, and intermediary firms. Over 80 independent meetings between tech companies and investors were organised.
Together with long-time partners, CEL-Catalyst China Israel Fund brought 16 innovative high-tech Israeli venture companies to Hong Kong for investment pitches, 1:1 meetings and discussion panels.
CEL has been committed to identifying and supporting innovative technology companies to grow in the China market and to bring them to the fast-developing Chinese economy. Working together with Cyberport, CCF hopes to explore and bring about the latest innovative technologies to Hong Kong, and connect investors and enterprises in China and Israel.
Mrs. Ahuva Spieler, Consulate General of Israel in Hong Kong & Macau, Ms Shengyan Fan, Managing Partner of CCF and Mr. Duncan Chiu, Board Member of Cyberport and Chairman of Cyberport Investors Network Steering Group, delivered opening remarks.
The first panel included a deep dive into the spirit of innovation in Israel. It was moderated by Mr John Chan and featured Mr Yair Shamir, Managing Partners of the Fund as one of the panellists.
The second panel explored AI and Big Data, moderated by Dr Toa Charm, Cyberport’s Chief Public Mission Officer, and Abel Zhou, CEO of TravelFlan, Bianca Ho, COO and co-founder of Clare.AI and Hezy Rotman, CEO of Real Imaging. In two separate showcasing sessions, 16 Israeli companies from TMT and Life Science presented their unique technology to over 200 investors.
The forum’s closing remarks were delivered by Mr Richard Tang, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of China Everbright Limited and Dr Toa Charm.
