Everbright Named Caring Company and Caring Organisation for Second Year in a Row

5 March 2012 – The China Everbright Charitable Foundation has received the “Caring Company” and “Caring Organisation” awards from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for the second year running. These awards recognise Everbright’s continued dedication and contribution to the Hong Kong community and are a major testament to the Group’s consistent efforts to fulfill its corporate social responsibilities.
Everbright considers the community as one of its four major partners, alongside collaborators, shareholders and investors, and employees. Recognising the importance of creating value for each of its stakeholders, the Group has a strong sense of commitment towards the many different elements that make up today’s society.
Everbright’s contribution to society takes several forms, including annual donations to poverty stricken areas in China, and actively promoting and participating in charitable projects that benefit Hong Kong’s community. The China Everbright Charitable Foundation was set up in 2009 specifically to fulfill the Group’s social responsibilities. In cooperation with the Caritas Family Crisis Support Centre, the foundation launched “The Everbright Project” in 2009 - the first ever community service programme targeting the middle class of Hong Kong. The project fosters the idea of “Making Life Simple” and encourages individuals from the middle class to develop their full potential, while living a balanced, happy and healthy life through a positive mindset and proper life-planning. The project has already earned widespread recognition and has assisted over 2,000 individuals since its launch. Currently there are almost 1,000 registered members.
Everbright also attaches great importance to the well-being of one of the Group’s most important assets - its staff. Significant resources are allocated to assist staff members in advancing their careers and maintaining a good balance between their working and personal lives.
In addition, Everbright has firmly embraced an internal culture that fosters a spirit of partnership and follows the principle of “create value to share value”. The Group shares its vision and corporate growth and development achievements with its employees, encouraging them to act in the interests of China Everbright as a whole. This helps create economic value and enhance efficiency, and ensures that employees share the fruits of the Group’s success. These efforts have yielded meaningful results, evident from the Group’s success in establishing competent fund teams as well recruiting and retaining top talent.
Everbright is delighted to receive these awards and many other commendations and will continue to vigorously promote the interests of its four major partners, reinforce its corporate culture and actively meet its social responsibilities, with the aim of achieving genuine sustainable development.
