Everbright’s China Aircraft Leasing Company Limited acquires 20 C919 Passenger Jets from Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China

China Everbright Limited (“Everbright” or “the Group”, HKSE code: 165) announced that its subsidiary, China Aircraft Leasing Company Limited, today held a signing ceremony in Hong Kong for the purchase of 20 C919 passenger jets from Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. (“COMAC”).
COMAC is a state-owned company that serves as the main vehicle for implementing large-scale passenger aircraft programs in China. Its mandate includes the overall development planning regional jet programs and civil aircraft industrialization in China.
The C919 is the second-largest commercial airliner designed and built domestically in China. “C” represents China as well as COMAC’s goal to compete in the international passenger aircraft market alongside market leaders Airbus and Boeing. COMAC currently has over 200 jets on order.
China Aircraft Leasing Company Limited was established in 2006 to operate principally in the aircraft leasing business for airline companies. Headquartered in Hong Kong, China Aircraft Leasing Company Limited has representative offices in Beijing, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Germany and Ireland. In June 2011, China Everbright acquired 48% shareholding of China Aircraft Leasing Company, becoming its single largest shareholder. Currently, China Aircraft Leasing Company Limited owns 10 aircrafts, and it is expected to expand its operational scale in the future by providing more diversified aircraft leasing services to airline companies, solidifying the business foundation of China Everbright.
