Golden Sunshine 165 Cup, a Hong Kong stock market simulation competition sponsored by Everbright, held its award presentation ceremony in Shenzhen on 30 January. The competition took place over 43 trading days. 10 best contestants were selected from each of the two groups, namely stocks and warrants. The overall champion gained a 700% return through trading in bull/bear contracts. The best player in the stock group achieved a return of 500%. Prizes for the top three players in each group were HK$20,000, HK$10,000 and HK$2,000 respectively, in addition to one-year free usage of Finet PowerStation 2008 which was awarded to the top ten players in each group.

The competition, which used the Hong Kong Stock Market Real Time Quote system, was jointly organized by qq.com and Finet Group and authorized by HKEx. Competitions of the stocks and warrants groups took place concurrently. Every contestant began with HK$1 million of virtual cash in each of his/her two accounts. Over 50,000 people registered. The competition gave contestants a better knowledge of the local stock market and investment risks, as well as enhanced Everbright’s reputation in the Hong Kong securities brokerage market.

On the ceremony, Everbright was also named one of the top three Hong Kong stock brokerages in 2009, according to a poll organized by qq.com that received votes from 148,000 Internet users. In addition to existing brokerage and wealth management branches in North Point and Kowloon, preparations for the third and fourth branches are underway. ‘Golden Sunshine 165’, an on-line trading platform for mainland clients, is in full operation. It is a familiar and convenient way for mainland clients to invest in Hong Kong stocks and related financial products.”

The ceremony was followed by the 2010 Hong Kong Stock Market Forum, during which industry veterans discussed investment strategies, opportunities in new energy, bull/bear contract strategies and key investment themes.
